About the property:

This single story house is well presented and equipped. Entrance is into the living room. The room is furnished with a leather sofa and comfortable chairs there is satellite TV, with Apple TV and Netflix and a DVD player. To the left of the living area is the Master bedroom with a king sized bed. There is a wardrobe with hanging and clothes storage. To the right is a good sized bedroom with a double bed , a single bed can be added if required. The galley kitchen is off the living area, it is equipped with a washing machine,dishwasher,microwave, gas hob and table top oven and fridge.
Also off the living room is the shower room, with walk in shower, WC and hand basin.

There are covered terraced areas around the house for al fresco dining; the terraces and overlook the beautiful gardens surrounding the property with views across to the ruined castle (14C castellas) on the hills, the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of local wine. There is a good range of garden furniture including tables, chairs and sun-loungers as well as a BBQ and ping-pong table for your use.

The pool with solar-powered cover is available for your use and guests can enjoy the extensive garden and terrace areas. The pool measures 10m x 5m and is 1.8m at the deep end, there are roman steps with handrail into the pool, the surround is fully paved and decorated with numerous potted plants.

The extensive gardens have been professionally landscaped and planted with Mediterranean plants and shrubs along with fruit and olive trees and a vegetable plot.

There are two dedicated parking spaces for guests. Free wifi internet connection, sheets and towels including pool towels are provided

There is a second house on the property occupied by a young French couple. Although at work during the day they are on hand for any issues you may have with the house.They make occasional use of the pool during their spare time.




The village of Aumelas is pleasently secluded but conveniently situated to explore the Languedoc region from the National Parc des Cevennes in the Gard to the medieval citadel at Carcassonne. Montpelier and Beziers airports as well as the beaches of the Mediterranean are a 30/40-minute drive away.

The village is surrounded by hills and open countryside perfect for walkers and cyclists, with a rich variety of wild flowers, herbs and trees. The medieval castle ruins and chapel perched on the hills overlooking the village are the focal point of the area, reached by a “botanical path” that is maintained by the local community association. Public tennis courts and an area for Pétanque are within walking distance.

There are several award-winning organic wine producers locally who will welcome you for tastings and the occasional concert. Local shops, restaurants and services are available in the neighbouring villages of Vendemian and St Paul de Valmalle which are a five- and ten-minute drive away while Gignac (15km distant) is the nearest market town with two supermarkets, an excellent butcher, friendly wine-merchant, Michelin-starred restaurant and other facilities.

The UNESCO site of St Guilhem le Désert is close by: one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its abbey and remaining cloisters. You can bathe at the mouth of the Gorges de l’Hérault, ride the river in canoes and swim in its deep pools, visit the astonishing Cirque (canyon) de Navacelles, explore modern pottery at nearby St Jean de Fos, enjoy wonderful food, jazz and wine in Montpeyroux, listen to Baroque music at the Abbaye de Valmagne or modern classical music in Montpellier and view stunning exhibitions there and in Sete and Lodeve.
