About the property:

A well restored independent stone house which shares a courtyard with the English owners. Entry is via a short stone staircase to the modern fitted kitchen area the kitchen is well equipped including a dishwasher, gas cooker and fridge freezer. Through the kitchen is the comfortable living area with dining table chairs, sofa and arm chair. Off the kitchen to the right is a hall area with access to the stairs to the roof terrace and bathroom. The bathroom has a small bath with a hand shower and WC. Through the bathroom is the double bedroom. The owner’s house has a terrace adjacent to the bedroom but your privacy is ensured with a wooden shutter. A second guest suite can be accessed directly from the courtyard. There is a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and WC also a small kitchen area with sink and kettle.
The roof terrace has magnificent views across the rooftops to the hills beyond. There are sun loungers, table and chairs and a BBQ. The owners are in residence and will respect your privacy at all times but are on hand to offer help and advice if needed. Wi-Fi internet access is available, sheets and towels are provided. Wood burning stove available for off season lets.
The countryside around the village has beautiful walks for all abilities. There is a restaurant in the neighbouring of Faugeres and a wide range of shops and services in Bedarieux or Herepian a 10 minute drive away.

 
 

ABOUT THE VILLAGE:

Soumartre

This peaceful hamlet of Faugeres is built mainly in local stone. It is surrounded by open countryside mainly planted with vines. There are lots of beautiful walks from the village and quiet country lanes for cycling. There is a general store and cafe in Faugeres which is only a five minute drive. A full range of shops and services are to be found in Herepian and Bedarieux a 10 to 15 minute drive.

Bedarieux has a huge weekly traditional street market with a wide range of local produce.

The Haute Languedoc National Park is a short drive away for hiking and breath taking scenery.

The sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are within a 45 minute drive where you can also dine on local oysters and fresh seafood.

You can swim off the beaches of the river Orb and hire canoes; Lake Salagou is close by for sailing and windsurfing or bathing. Golf courses can be found at the Spa town of Lamalou les Bains or Beziers.

The closest airport for Ryan Air flights is Beziers, but Montpellier, Carcassonne, Rodez and Perpignan are also within easy reach.
